Tyson Fury’s Road to the Joshua Fight
Fury retired in early 2025 after his second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk. He returned in 2026 and outpointed Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April, with Joshua watching from ringside. In the ring afterwards he called Joshua out for a “Battle of Britain”. In July he stopped Mariusz Wach in Pattaya, Thailand, when Wach’s corner pulled him out in the seventh round.
The fight with Joshua was confirmed in September for December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, live on Netflix.
Tyson Fury’s Fighting Style
Fury is unusually mobile for a man of his size. He uses a long jab, constant feints and stance switches to confuse opponents, then leans his weight on them in close to sap their energy. His comeback from a knockdown against Wilder in their first fight is one of the most famous moments in modern heavyweight boxing.
